Day 1: Arrival at Reykjavik
Welcome to the capital city of Iceland! Airport transfer. Hotel check in. Overnight in Reykjavik.
Northern light tour in the evening. Our Northern Lights chase in a minibus is the ultimate experience in Iceland. Venturing off the beaten track grants you exclusive access to the best spots to admire the dancing lights in all their glory. Wrap yourself in a blanket and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa while gazing up at the Aurora Borealis in the heavens. Overnight in Reykjavik.
Day 2: Golden circle tour & Lava Tunnel tour
See Iceland above and underground. Begin the day by witnessing the inner workings of a volcanic eruption as you walk along the path of lava that flowed thousands of years ago. The lava tunnel is one of the largest in Iceland, reaching up to 30 meters wide and 10 meters high. Near the entrance, the lava tube ceiling has collapsed, creating stunning columns of natural light. The tunnel walls showcase a fantastic range of colors caused by different mineral types in the rock.
Next, visit three of Iceland’s most iconic natural wonders: Gullfoss waterfall, the Geysir geothermal area, and Þingvellir National Park. The Geysir area is home to spouting springs, including Strokkur — the most active geyser in Iceland. In fact, all geysers in the world are named after the now mostly dormant Geysir hot spring, from which the area gets its name. At Gullfoss, stand beside the powerful waterfall as enormous volumes of water plunge into a dramatic, winding gorge. Overnight in Reykjavik.
Day 3: South Iceland adventure
Among the stops on this tour are the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Seljalandsfoss is part of the Seljalandsá river, which originates from the Eyjafjallajökull glacier. What makes Seljalandsfoss so famous and unique is that you can walk behind the waterfall. The tour also includes a stop at Reynisfjara black sand beach, known for the Reynisdrangar rock formations and striking columnar basalt. Additionally, you will visit Sólheimajökull glacier and take a walk up to a small lake formed in front of the retreating glacier. Overnight in Reykjavik.
Day 4: Wonders of Snæfellsnes National Park
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula in the west of Iceland is like a miniature version of the entire island. The area showcases beautiful examples of some of Iceland’s most famous natural wonders, including black beaches, magnificent mountains, volcanic craters, incredible birdlife, magical caves, and, of course, the most picturesque glacier of them all—Snæfellsjökull. This tour stops at the small fishing village of Arnarstapi and offers real insight into quintessential volcanic craters. Along the way, you’ll enjoy great views of the iconic Kirkjufell mountain, while the dark cliffs and black sand of Djúpalónssandur Bay are favorites among photographers. In the middle of this stunning peninsula sits Snæfellsjökull, a glacier that has captured the imagination of people worldwide. Overnight in Reykjavik.
Day 5: Reykjavik to Akureyri by flight
Take flight to Akureyri. Airport transfers, hotel check in. Overnight in Akureyri. Námafjall. This dramatic landscape is considered by many to be both Iceland’s most beautiful and most catastrophic natural site. Next, enjoy a short stop at the Víti crater near Krafla Volcano, followed by a visit to the powerful Dettifoss Waterfall, where a massive rush of water, mud, and sand cascades into Iceland’s most impressive canyon.
After Dettifoss, travel alongside the Jökulsárgljúfur glacial canyon to the Vesturdalur valley and the unique Hljóðaklettar, known worldwide for their striking basalt columns and ancient crater formations. Then, visit the awe-inspiring horseshoe-shaped Ásbyrgi Canyon, surrounded by towering cliffs. On the way back to Akureyri, take a leisurely photo stop in the charming village of Húsavík, often called the whale watching capital of Iceland. Return to Akureyri for an overnight stay, reflecting on a day filled with incredible landscapes and unforgettable sights.
